Willkommen auf der offiziellen Webseite der Wikimania 2008! Die vierte Wikimania wird diesen Sommer in der renommierten neuen Bibliothek in Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina) stattfinden. Die Vorbereitungen laufen bereits: Unter anderem wird an einem Stadtführer, der Anmeldungsseite für die Veranstaltung und einer Gelegenheit zur Online-Mitarbeit gearbeitet. Schriftliche Themenvorschläge können bereits eingereicht werden.

Wer gerne mithelfen will, die Wikimania 2008 zu einem besonderen Ereignis zu machen, zum Beispiel durch Mitarbeit in einem oder mehreren Organisationskomitees (online oder auch im Rahmen der Konferenz), findet unten auf dieser Seite die relevanten Links.

What is Wikimania?

Wikimania is a regular conference for all Wikimedians that contribute to one of the many Wikimedia Foundation projects. Past conferences have been held in cities around the world such as Frankfurt, Germany (Wikimania 2005 website), Boston, USA (Wikimania 2006 website) and Taipei, Taiwan (Wikimania 2007 website). The constant presence of people available to help. I guess we all felt very cared for. I did not see the Wikimania welcome team at the airport (I was there too early), but many commented on this and loved it. As for me, I remember that a few times, I was coughing as if I was going to die, and I was amazed to find next to me someone with a tea. I am not sure we will be able to do that again elsewhere (have this whole group of volunteers to help), but it sure felt like heaven. — Florence Devouard
