Welcome to the official website for Wikimania 2008! Alexandria will be hosting Wikimania 2008 this summer in the prestigious new Library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina). Work is currently underway to provide information for the event, such as a city guide, Wikimania registration, generation of online interests, and call for papers. If you wish to volunteer to organize and make Wikimania 2008 an outstanding event, please consider joining one or more of the organizational committees, which consists of either helping entirely online, or giving a hand with tasks at the conference. Thank you for your interest in Wikimania! What is Wikimania? Wikimania is a regular conference for all Wikimedians who contribute to one of the many Wikimedia Foundation projects. The constant presence of people available to help. I guess we all felt very cared for. I did not see the Wikimania welcome team at the airport (I was there too early), but many commented on this and loved it. As for me, I remember that a few times, I was coughing as if I was going to die, and I was amazed to find next to me someone with a tea. I am not sure we will be able to do that again elsewhere (have this whole group of volunteers to help), but it sure felt like heaven. — Florence Devouard
