Help please :)
Any 'crats over here? I've been impersonated, and would really appreciate it if User:Fvasconcellos could be renamed, what with SUL now being available and all. Thanks, 189.62.50.207 17:04, 25 March 2008 (UTC) (Fvasconcellos@enwiki)
As an Egyptian, Is there a fee for attending Wikimania? ,and if there How much?
- yes there is a fee, they havent been released yet though. please check back soon for more info :-) regards --Markie 20:15, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- I encourage you to have an "open policy" toward active egyptian-wikipedia or to also set up special open space. Many students and money-short people contribute to Wikipedia, don't close the doors to these friends for 10US$ that they can't afford. Even 10$ may be too much for some wikipedians, I know a French administrator who claimed to live with 140US$/month in France (clothes + food only, of course), I guess that they are probably similar cases in Egypt. 220.135.4.212 16:55, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- please see Registration for prices --Markie 17:08, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- O.O so you will ask active wikipedian-students to pay 25US$ or to go back home ? 220.135.4.212 17:36, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Those people could have applied for a scholarship if they were interested in going but had money trouble. Cbrown1023 talk 20:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- I thought the scholarships are for people who need to travel to Egypt only? Local egypt participants may be a different issue, but I would only consider lower fee for locals that are already active in one of the Wikimedia projects. -- Nichtich 19:35, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- You are correct, I was referring to the "French administrator who claimed to live with 140US$/month in France" part. I probably should have made that clearer.
;-)
Cbrown1023 talk 20:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)- I encourage you, at least, to make "Open door" after 17pm or something like that. We are not google, microsoft, or encarta : we need everybody help, and we need to keep a wiki spirit/open source spirit in the wikimania too. Personnally, I would be really happy to know that a poor Egyptian active wikipedian had obtain a kind free entry, and that weathly wikipedia had paid their full bill. Never apply a full "close door policy", the "Open" is what make our strong since the first days. :] 220.135.4.212 16:51, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Graphic Labs : teams of graphists who improve and create images on Wikipedias
Hello, the Wikigraphists working on the Graphic labs who had edited or created about 3.000 images in 3 years and who are continously working to provide better and professional illustrations to all Wikipedias (see Wikimania 2007 presentation of the Graphic Labs). We would like to provide some printable images presenting us to notice our initiative to other wikipedias' members, and to programmers.
We are interesting to know how we can manage this issue : we can provide you A3-size and A4-size summary images to print. Like those visible on the previous link. So :
- Can you print them on the Wikimania days and put them somewhere ?
- Can you take a look on Wikimania 2007 presentation of the Graphic Labs to understand a little our work ?

- Thank you for your message, and sorry for the delay. I think it is most practical if you can ask a Commons person (Cary, Brianna) to take care of this, and to put them as examples in their presentations. You could also make a poster, and try to get one of the attendees to print it and bring it. I think it would be a great poster proposal! Effeietsanders 13:32, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
HOW TO BE APART OF THIS COMMUNITY
hello sir i am a student of medicine, doing my m.b.b.s. from India.Sir i want to know how can i be a part of this community and what is the criteria for attending these conferences and how can i help this organisation to be more stronger.
- Information for attending the conference can be found at Registration, anyone can attend provided they follow the insturctions on the page and register! This conference is for the organization that runs projects such as Wikipedia (the Wikimedia Foundation), so if you want to help out by editing the projects or donating, it would be greatly appreciated! About Types of Payment
There are 5 types of payments: 1 day, 2 days, Early bird (full), On-site/day and Regular registration. I would like to know what is included in each type. We want to register ASAP but first we want to know which payment is more suitable for us, We live in Cairo and will definitely be there. Thanks. Diana.
- Here's a break-down:
- 1 day includes access to 1 of the 3 conference days.
- 2 days includes access to 2 of the 3 conference days.
- Early bird (full) is a full registration (all 3 days), but it's a cheaper price because you are registering early.
- On-site/day is if you just show up at Wikimania and want to get in -- you have to pay that price / day.
- Regular registration is a full registration (all 3 days), but it's more expensive than "early bird" because the person waited to register.
- I hope this helps! Cbrown1023 talk 14:19, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Error in English grammar on page http://wikimania2008.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
Page http://wikimania2008.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page contains an error in English grammar. I would have fixed it myself, but it doesn't seem to be a Wiki-type page.
Please change
"Wikimania is a regular conference for all Wikimedians that contribute to one of the many..."
to
"Wikimania is a regular conference for all Wikimedians who contribute to one of the many..."
Reason:
The coined word "Wikimedians" clearly refers to people. "Who" is the correct relative pronoun for people (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relative_pronoun).
David Spector http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:David_spector
- Fixed, thanks! :-) Cbrown1023 talk 14:16, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello,
I'm a medical student from Mansoura, on behalf of MSSA (Mansoura Students Scientific Association), I'm asking about some details about registration for groups. A group of 10-15 or more of us are interested in attending the Wikimania conference.
The question is: What is the exact process of registration for groups. I'm talking about the online registration, should everyone register online alone?? and what about the payment and the discounts? should everybody pay for himself on the bank account? or can we pay once for everyone on the group?? and what if somebody else wanted to join our group after registration (there is plenty of time till the deadline)? How can we include him/her in the discount?
Please reply and answer these questions as soon as possible.. We're waiting for you!
Looking forward to hearing from you..
Salam.

Wust El Balad in Wikimania2008
I am arriving Alexandria (from Cairo) on the day 17th at night and I am registered to Wikimania 2008 for days 18th and 19th... Now I have found out that Wust El Balad will have a presentation on my arrival date, I would like to know if I can enter the concert even if I am not register for day 17th or if there is a fee to go there and attend the presentation of this amazing Egyptian band. Alex.
Accomodation
Hi! I paid registration fee (including the fee for hotel reservation) and I didn't get any confirmation yet. I am starting to worry - I am going to Cairo tomorrow morning.
